Good afternoon Lansingburgh School Community,

Just wanted to take a moment to update everyone on the progress we are making with bus transportation.

  • There are now 5 or 6 staff members making phone calls or replying to emails from families with updated bus route information.
  • Unfortunately, we are still having some technical difficulties integrating our bus route software (Transfinder) with our student management system (School Tools).  Syncing these two programs is critical in providing our transportation contractor and families with consistent bus routing information and was leading to confusion and mixed messaging.
  • Please continue to email transportation@lansingburgh.org with questions and concerns about bus routes.  This is the preferred method and will get you the quickest response.
  • Some concerns have come from families about the locations of a few bus stops.  Once we can be certain that all students have correct routing, we will begin to examine alternative locations for bus stops.
  • Protocols have been implemented to ensure that issues like this do not reoccur in the future.
  • The search for a new Transportation Supervisor has begun this week.  Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest and resume to Donny Miller, Human Resource Manager, dmiller@lansingburgh.org
    • Application Deadline: September 30, 2024
    • Full-time position (12-month, year-round)
    • Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000
    • Must have a valid New York State driver’s license in good standing
    • Must have graduated from a regionally accredited high school
    • Must have 3 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment OR 5 years of experience in the operation of multi-passenger vehicles or the dispatching of motor equipment

I wanted to thank everyone for their continued patience and apologize again for the slow start to the school year.

Respectfully,

Antonio Abitabile
LCSD Superintendent

Good morning Lansingburgh School Community,

I am writing to you this morning to update our families on the transportation issues we have had since the beginning of the school year.  Let me first apologize on behalf of the District for the confusion and frustration this has caused many of you.  We have received all of your messages and phone calls alerting us to incorrect bus routes, pick-up times, etc. and have been trying to balance responding to your messages while fixing the errors at the same time.

As families and taxpayers in the District, I understand how disappointing this experience has been. The beginning of the school year should be a joyous event, where children are excited to return to our classrooms and so far this has been anything but that.  Please know that we are currently doing everything we can to fix these transportation issues. We are also actively implementing procedures to ensure that this does not happen again in the future.

Even though individual messages were sent to families on Parent Square early this morning with updated transportation information, we now realize there were still some errors.

If your information was incorrect in the message sent out this morning, please email transportation@lansingburgh.org and we will respond to you as soon as we can to ensure it gets corrected.  Emailing this address is the fastest way for us to respond with corrected bussing information.

By no means, is this the start of the school year any of us had hoped for and I apologize again for the stress this has caused our school families. I truly appreciate your ongoing patience until this matter is resolved.  I will continue to keep you updated on the progress.

Sincerely,

Antonio W. Abitabile
LCSD Superintendent

Good afternoon Lansingburgh School Community,

As some of you are likely aware, we are experiencing some technical difficulties with a new routing program that needed to be updated this year.  My understanding is that this is primarily affected 2nd and 5th grades, along with some new registrants. As a result, we have been forced to manually route students, which takes significantly more time to complete. The transportation department is working diligently to resolve this issue but it will likely not be completely fixed before tomorrow morning. As each student gets routed into our system, we will contact you directly with the correct information.

If you are still unsure about your child's bus route heading into tomorrow morning, it might be best to find alternative transportation.

I apologize on behalf of the district for causing further stress on opening day and am confident this issue will be resolved in the very near future. I appreciate your patience while we continue working on this.
