The Pick a Reading Partner (PARP) program returns to Rensselaer Park Elementary for 2025! PARP is an annual PTA-sponsored program inspiring RPES students and families/friends to read together. The 2025 PARP program runs from February 28 - April 4, 2025.
2025 Rensselaer Park PARP Theme & Events
The 2025 PARP theme is "The Reading Eras Tour: Rensselaer Park's Version" and it will take students on a reading tour of the eras starting in the 1960s and ending in the 2010s.
Each classroom has a ticket that they decorated to represent their class. The ticket will move throughout the different decades inside the school based on the number of minutes their class reads. Each hallway of RPES represents a different decade or era. The program is designed to engage our students in reading and to enhance their pop culture knowledge through the eras.
The class in each grade level that reads the most minutes, will earn the Golden Guitar. Students will also have the opportunity to be featured on bulletin boards throughout the building including "In Our Reading Era" and "PARParazzi."
On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, there will be the "Peace, Love & Literacy Reading Knight" for group reading with friends and family. The annual Literacy Night (known this year as "A Knight in the Eras") full of literacy-themed activities will take place on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
