If you are unaware, there will be a solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024. A solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, obscuring the Sun for a brief period of time.

Lansingburgh Central School District will be open for a regular school day on Monday, April 8, and students will be dismissed at their normal times. The majority of the eclipse will be taking place after students have dismissed for the day.

Safely Viewing the Eclipse

If you and your students plan to observe the eclipse, do not look directly at the Sun unless you are using special-purpose solar filter glasses that comply with the ISO 12312-2 safety standard.
