Each February brings one of Lansingburgh's favorite annual traditions in its elementary schools: World Read Aloud Day!
On Wednesday, February 5, Turnpike Elementary School and Rensselaer Park Elementary School hosted dozens of guest readers including elected officials (one of this year's readers even included NYS Lt. Governor Antonio Delgado), community members, board members, firefighters, Troy Police, Lansingburgh High School students, district faculty/staff and more! Now in its 15th year, World Read Aloud Day was founded so people could celebrate reading aloud as a way to advocate for literacy as a human right.
Enjoy the pictures below from around Turnpike Elementary and Rensselaer Park Elementary during this year's World Read Aloud Day on February 5. Thank you to ALL of our many, many guest readers! We try to get pictures of as many of them as we can each year - our apologies if we missed you!
