Lansingburgh Central School District is pleased to announce that Michelle Canning has been selected as the district's new Director of Transportation. An employee of the district since February 2021, Mrs. Canning has worked in Turnpike Elementary School's Main Office and the Lansingburgh District Office, where she has been the district registrar for the past three years.
Before moving to the Capital Region, Mrs. Canning worked in the Oneida City School District's Transportation Department. She enters her new position in Lansingburgh with almost 20 years of experience in school transportation as a bus driver, router, record keeper and trainer.
"It's an honor to be selected as Director of Transportation for Lansingburgh. I'll be getting to work right away on implementing measures to strengthen student safety, both on and off the bus, and to address any bus routing issues brought to our attention. I'm looking forward to positively impacting our transportation department and ensuring all our students using district transportation have the best possible experience," said Mrs. Canning.
"We were thoroughly impressed with Mrs. Canning's ability to present us with a clear vision for the future of our transportation department. She has identified immediate steps she plans on taking to ensure our students are delivered to and from our campuses safely and efficiently every day," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Antonio Abitabile.
