Join us in welcoming Lansingburgh Central School District's new Human Resources Manager: Donny Miller!

Headshot of human resources manager Donny Miller

Mr. Miller started his new position as Lansingburgh HR Manager earlier this month, but since it's the summertime, it will be a bit before many meet him. We checked in so you could learn a bit more about him before September. Happy to have him on the team and we look forward to more members of the Lansingburgh CSD community meeting him soon!

Tell us a little about your background.

I have roughly seven years of experience working in human resources and personnel matters in both the private and public sectors and I also have over ten years of experience in management. I spent the last five years running point on all HR related matters for the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES). Although I thoroughly enjoyed my tenure at DHSES, I had been wanting to work in an educational setting where I could have a positive impact in a community.

What drew you to Lansingburgh as a place you wanted to work?

I've lived in Troy my whole life and although I didn't attend Lansingburgh schools, several of my friends did. I also married into a Lansingburgh family, so I am no stranger to this community. All the people I know who work in the district rave about how great of a place LCSD is and from the moment I came in for my interview I felt right at home. I am excited to bring fresh ideas and add to the LCSD family!

Starting a school district job during the summer is unique with not many people around. What are some of your goals before everyone returns?

My main goal right now is to familiarize myself with the district environment and learn as much as I can about district operations. When the school season ramps up and my phone starts ringing more, I want to be able to provide guidance as efficiently as possible.

What's something about you or your work style you want the Lansingburgh community to know about you right off the bat?

I’d like the LCSD community to know I’ll always be honest, and I’ll always have their backs. If something does not look right, I will tell them. I want everyone in the district to feel comfortable approaching me and know that I’ll do whatever I can to solve a problem.

Finally, what's life like for you outside of work?

Outside of work, I am a husband of almost 10 years and a proud girl dad. Mckensi is my eight-year-old daughter and Harper, the wild child, turns five in August. Those two little ones certainly keep me on my toes!

My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family, regardless of what we're doing. I am very active, enjoy working out and run/bike between 30-40 miles a week. I am also a dog dad with a four-year-old German Shepherd named Hondo as well as a 14-year-old Yorkie named Oliver.
