The Lansingburgh Central School District is pleased to announce Alexandra Nelson will be the next Principal of Rensselaer Park Elementary School. Mrs. Nelson has worked in Lansingburgh since July 2023 as the Assistant Principal of Rensselaer Park and was appointed as the next Principal by the Lansingburgh Board of Education at their workshop/special meeting on Monday, April 7, 2025.

The current Interim Rensselaer Park Principal, Joseph Lopez, will continue in his role until Rensselaer Park’s next Assistant Principal is hired and begins, at which time Mrs. Nelson will take over as Principal.

"I’m honored to be stepping into this new role. During the last two years, I’ve built strong relationships with students, employees, families, and community members. These are all connections I deeply value and I look forward to strengthening them as well as creating new ones as RPES Principal. I’m excited to lead with a shared commitment to student success and a supportive school culture,” said Mrs. Nelson.

“Mrs. Nelson stood out amongst applicants due to her extensive knowledge and experience from her years as a classroom teacher, her continued work as an adjunct instructor at Siena College's School of Education and spending the last two years as a school administrator. As RPES Assistant Principal she has honed her leadership skills and become a part of the culture of our district. I am confident she will receive the support of our entire school community in her new role," said Lansingburgh Superintendent of Schools Dr. Antonio Abitabile.
