Please note that 8th-grade students who have failed two or more classes will not be eligible to attend either of the following events.
Moving-Up Ceremony
The 8th Grade Moving-Up Ceremony is Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 5:00 PM in the Lansingburgh High School Gymnasium. The ceremony will be approximately 1 hour and consist of distributing academic awards and recognizing the students who have met the academic requirements to move on to 9th grade by stating their names and having them stand. If your child is receiving an academic award, you will be notified before the ceremony.
Each student will receive 6 guest tickets. Tickets will be distributed to students earlier the same week. Families/guests may enter starting at 4:45 PM.
Semi-Formal Dance
The 8th Grade Semi-Formal Dance will immediately follow the ceremony. Families are welcome to take pictures after the ceremony before dropping students off at the dance.
The dance will be from 6:00–8:00 PM in the Knickerbacker Middle School Gym. There will be music, refreshments, and a photo booth for 8th-grade students to enjoy.
