Relaunching Lansingburgh's Parent Teacher Home Visit Program

March 31, 2021

After being put on pause due to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic last spring, we are relaunching Lansingburgh's Parent Teacher Home Visit Program. Please see the message below from Lansingburgh Director of School Community Partnerships about plans for relaunching this program and how you can find out more.

Dear Lansingburgh Families,

Lansingburgh Central School District is excited to announce that it is relaunching the Parent Teacher Home Visit Program.  This program was first introduced in the Fall of 2019 but was put on hold as our community dealt with the coronavirus pandemic. As our schools and community have successfully reopened, we now are ready to resume this important K-12 initiative for building bridges between home and school.

The program strives to link the knowledge of the true expert on the child (their family) with the classroom expertise of our teachers to create the best classroom experience. Research provided by the Parent Teacher Home Visit Program finds that when educators visit their homes, children are more motivated about school and school becomes more meaningful and personal to them.  Families report that the home visits demonstrate that teachers care about their child, their wellbeing and academic success. These improved relationships support improved academics, attendance and behavior.

The relaunch of the Parent Teacher Home Visit Program is being done in ways to ensure that everyone participating will feel comfortable:

  • Visits for Spring 2021 will be conducted virtually (on Google Meets or Zoom)
  • A small number of visits will be conducted this spring and expanded to more visits in Summer and Fall
  • Feedback from the first round of visits will be used to improve the experience for families going forward
  • Families can expect the following topics to be discussed during the virtual visits: your family’s hopes and dreams for your child, your child’s interests, strengths and home life, and how we can collaborate to support your child

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or if you desire a Parent Teacher Home Visit Program virtual visit for your child. I can be reached at 518.233.6857 or
