6/18/2019 - Residents of the Lansingburgh Central School District have approved a revised $50,055,470 budget for the 2019-2020 school year by a re-vote of 551 (yes) to 227 (no).
District residents rejected the initially proposed 2019-2020 budget of $50,039,878 on May 21, 2019, by a vote of 390 (yes) to 284 (no). This version of the budget required supermajority voter approval (at least 60% of voters) since it carried a 1.00% tax levy increase, which exceeded the district’s allowable tax cap. The initially proposed budget only received 57% voter approval.
The revised budget represents a -1.27% decrease in spending from 2018-2019 and carries a 0.46% tax levy increase, which meets the district’s allowable New York State tax cap. Since it did not exceed the tax cap, the revised budget required a normal majority vote (50% of voters) to pass and not the supermajority vote the initially proposed budget required.
The district wishes to thank all the residents who came out to vote.
