Important Information About June 1 Regents at LHS

Please read the memo below from Lansingburgh High School Principal Matthew Van Dervoort about the Regents Exams scheduled for Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

Lansingburgh High School students not taking the US History Exam or the Earth Science Lab Practical will have no school on Wednesday, June 1.

This only applies to students not taking these exams. Wednesday, June 1 is a regular school day for all Pre-K - 8th Grade students.

Dear Families;

For the first time in two years, New York State is administering the Regents exams, which are a requirement for graduation in NYS.  THESE EXAMS ARE NOT OPTIONAL FOR THE STUDENTS AND MUST BE TAKEN AT THE TIME SET FORTH BY THE NYS EDUCATION DEPARTMENT.  While many of the exams will take place beginning June 15th, two exams will be administered on June 1, 2022.

On Wednesday, June 1, 2022, Lansingburgh High School will be administering the US History and Government Regents Exam at 8:00 AM.  We will also be administering the Earth Science Lab Practical portion of the Earth Science Regents Exam.  ONLY STUDENTS TAKING THESE EXAMS CAN ATTEND SCHOOL ON JUNE 1ST.  STUDENTS MUST TAKE THESE EXAMS ON THIS DAY.  THERE ARE NO MAKE-UPS.  Failure to take these exams on June 1, 2022, will result in the student having to wait until they are offered in August to take them.  Again, we are not permitted by NYS to give Regents exams at any other time other than the times set by NYSED.

The lab portion of the Earth Science Exam will take place all day in groups.  All Earth Science and US History students need to report to school at their regular time. The US History Regents exam will begin at 8:00 AM. Students will not be permitted to enter the US History exam after 10:00 AM.  Students will have until 11:00 AM to complete the exam.  We will be having a bus run home at approximately 11:15 AM.

This testing day will not affect any other students in the district other than Lansingburgh High School students.  If you do not have a student taking either the US History Regents or the Earth Science Lab Practical, they will not have school on June 1st. Students EPK-8 will have a regular school day on June 1st.

The schedule for the main Regents testing period beginning June 15th will be posted to our website and sent out via ParentSquare.

Please contact the high school if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Matt Van Dervoort
