PICTURES: Lansingburgh Family Thanks the Bretons & "Mary Fund"

March 26, 2021

If you are part of the Lansingburgh Central School District family, you are likely familiar with The Mary Fund. For those who are unfamiliar, it was started in memory of Lansingburgh student, Mary Breton, who passed away shortly after graduating from 5th grade at Rensselaer Park Elementary. Mary loved going to school and loved Lansingburgh, so after she passed her parents, Mary Anne & Leo, started The Mary Fund to benefit Lansingburgh students, families, staff and alumni. The Mary Fund has done so much for individuals in our district including helping student families in need, funding field trips, assisting teachers with getting extra school supplies and so much more.

To thank the Bretons, Mary's sister, Michelle, worked with all four Lansingburgh schools to coordinate a surprise drive-thru birthday parade today (Mary's birthday) for Mary Anne and Leo. This morning everyone lined the sidewalks outside their buildings with handmade signs and cheered their thanks to Mary's parents as they drove by. For all the many things the Bretons have done for Lansingburgh, we could not have been happier to participate in this display of gratitude for them on Mary's birthday.

Enjoy some pictures from the birthday parade scenes outside Turnpike Elementary and Rensselaer Park Elementary below. Many thanks again to the Bretons and The Mary Fund.
