RPES Race to Read for Ronald McDonald House Kicks Off January 5!

January 5, 2021

Rensselaer Park Elementary's Race to Read for Ronald McDonald House returns on January 5 and continues through January 29!

What is Race to Read?

Race to Read accomplishes two great things at once:

1) Raising money for the Ronald McDonald House of the Capital Region, which helps local families that have children dealing with serious illnesses.

2) Gets our grade 3-5 students reading outside of school, building their skills & love of literature!

Watch the Intro Video from Ms. Juliano

First, click here to check out this quick video from RPES Reading Teacher, Ms. Juliano, with an introduction about how it works if you've never participated.

Start Reading! Track the Amount of Time You Spend Reading!

Start reading on January 5 (today!) and click here to find the Reading Calendar to track the minutes you spend reading each day! You can read alone or by yourself, all reading minutes count!

Through January, RPES students ask family or friends to sponsor their reading with a flat amount for reaching their total reading minutes goal or they can pledge a certain amount for every minute a student reads. Keep counting your reading minutes all the way through Friday, January 29.

Set Up Your RPES Race to Read Fundraising Page

Participating RPES students (with some help from parent/guardians) can set-up their very own online fundraising pages for donations & pledges from reading sponsors. All donations directly benefit the Ronald McDonald House of the Capital Region. Click here and follow the instructions to set-up your Race to Read Fundraising page.

Or you can also donate directly to Rensselaer Park's Race to Read homepage here.
