TES Principal Memo (December 30): Checking-In Before Students Return
December 30, 2020
Please see the memo below from Turnpike Elementary School Principal, Ian Knox. This was sent to all Turnpike families on December 30 and contains a few things Mr. Knox wanted to check in with families about before we welcome students back to the building on January 4, 2021.
All school reopening news and COVID-19 updates can be found on the district’s Reopening Updates page here.
Turnpike Community,
I hope everyone is having a happy and safe holiday recess. All of your children have worked so hard for the first several months of school and a break such as this is much needed.
On Monday, December 14th, Dr. Abitabile sent out a memo regarding required COVID-19 testing in our district if we were designated as a “yellow zone” by NYS. As of now, we do not need to conduct any testing in our district and we plan to open Turnpike Elementary on January 4, 2021 . We are excited to welcome your children back to school and we will work tirelessly to ensure a safe environment is provided in order to continue in-person instruction.
On January 13, 2021, a survey will be going out to all parents/guardians so that they may choose whether to keep their child in person for the third quarter (2/1/2021 - 4/16/2021) or opt them into a remote learning section. The survey will be pushed out on your child’s Chromebook.
I also want to take this opportunity to remind you to please fill out your child’s health screening each and every morning. When classes resume, a robocall will be sent out daily to remind you to do so.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at iknox@lansingburgh.org. We look forward to seeing your children on Monday!
Be well,
Ian Knox
Principal
