Lansingburgh Awarded NYS "Teachers of Tomorrow" Funding
December 30, 2020
We’re happy to announce an exciting opportunity for future education and instruction in Lansingburgh thanks to the efforts of our Assistant Superintendent, Rebecca McGrouty!
Ms. McGrouty applied for the New York State Education Department’s Teachers of Tomorrow grant program during Summer 2020 and was recently informed that Lansingburgh would be awarded funding from it.
The goal of Teachers of Tomorrow is recruiting and retaining teachers on staff by offering tuition reimbursement to individuals seeking or already have their teaching certification in more difficult to fill fields. For instance, Lansingburgh will use this reimbursement funding to recruit and retain teachers certified or seeking certification in ENL (English as a New Language), Math and Science. Since long-term retention is the goal, all recipients of the tuition reimbursement funds must commit to teaching in Lansingburgh for one year.
The district had never applied for Teachers of Tomorrow before, so Ms. McGrouty decided to go for it and succeeded in securing this important incentive for hiring and keeping highly qualified teachers working in Lansingburgh. Many thanks to Ms. McGrouty for her work to further strengthen the Lansingburgh faculty!
