Lansingburgh School Community:

I know that we are all still reeling from the tragic passing of one of our most beloved children.  All of us have been left struggling to figure out how this young boy’s life was taken at the age of just 11 years old.

While nothing will ever replace the loss to our community, several of you have contacted me wondering what you can do to help.  For some, it has been prayers and positive thoughts for Ayshawn’s family.   Others have donated to the GoFundMe pages that have been created to assist his family with the myriad of expenses incurred for funeral arrangements, while some have decided to donate funds as a reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for this horrific crime.

Nelson Mandela said, Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

As a school district community, each of us places the highest priority on the importance of all of our students acquiring the best education possible.  As educators, we all chose the field of education because we understand that education is the key to freedom and happiness.  Now, we have an opportunity to help future generations reach their potential.

The district has decided to create a scholarship program so that Ayshawn’s legacy will endure for years to come.  The Ayshawn Davis “Anything is Possible” scholarship will reward future graduates of the Lansingburgh Central School District, starting with the Class of 2021.  While the details of this scholarship still need to be determined, we felt it was important to share this endeavor with the community because so many of you are wondering what you can do to help.

If you would like to donate to the scholarship, checks are being accepted by the district.  They can be made out to the LCSD Anything is Possible Scholarship and are considered a charitable contribution on your behalf.  If needed, a receipt can be generated for your tax records.

Please consider donating to this worthy cause so that other students will have the opportunity that Ayshawn was not able to realize because Anything Is Possible.

Respectfully,

Dr. Antonio W. Abitabile, Ed. D.

LCSD Superintendent
