Melissa Santarcangelo Appointed as Next Principal of Rensselaer Park
May 25, 2023
The Lansingburgh Central School District is pleased to announce that Melissa Santarcangelo was appointed as the next Principal of Rensselaer Park Elementary School at the district’s board of education meeting on Monday, May 22. Rensselaer Park serves the district’s students in grades 3-5.
Mrs. Santarcangelo currently serves as the Assistant Principal of Rensselaer Park, a role she has been in since joining the district in August 2020. She will officially begin her new role as the school’s principal on July 1, 2023, following the departure of the current Rensselaer Park Principal, Dr. Katie Stalker, who will be leaving the district at the end of the school year. The district thanks Dr. Stalker for the work she has done during her time as Principal of Rensselaer Park.
“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue working in this amazing district and school in my new role as Principal. I’ve never experienced a community and culture like the one at RPES. The staff, families, and community build each other up here and I could not do this job without all of them. I look forward to continuing our work together,” said Mrs. Santarcangelo.
“Through the candidate interview process, it was clear to the search committee that Mrs. Santarcangelo was the right person for the job,” said Lansingburgh Superintendent of Schools Dr. Antonio Abitabile.
Dr. Abitabile added that “Over the past three years, she has a proven record of building strong relationships with Rensselaer Park’s families, students and faculty/staff. I look forward to witnessing Melissa’s continued success in her new role.”
