Mask Guidance Update for NYS Schools as of June 7

June 7, 2021

The following message from District Superintendent, Dr. Abitabile, was emailed to all Lansingburgh families on Monday, June 7. It is a follow-up to the Sunday, June 6, message about mask guidelines in New York State schools.

The New York State Department of Health also released their updated guidance about face masks in schools later that same evening. You can see that guidance here on pages 2 and 9, which includes these key pieces of information:

  • Current indoor mask policies remain in place.
  • Students/staff will no longer be required to wear masks for outdoor activities, including sports

All school reopening news and COVID-19 updates can be found on the district’s Reopening Updates page here.

Good evening Lansingburgh School Community,

Based on Governor Cuomo's announcement today, the District is no longer requiring masks to be worn outdoors. Guidance for indoor mask use remains in place. Further changes are not expected by the CDC for several weeks. Meaning, this will likely last for the remainder of the school year.
