March 11, 2021

The following message from District Superintendent, Dr. Abitabile, was emailed to all Lansingburgh families on Thursday, March 11.

Dr. Abitabile's message is also available on district letterhead here.

All school reopening news and COVID-19 updates can be found on the district’s Reopening Updates page here.

Lansingburgh School Community,

The District received some updates from the NYSDOH in regards to revising the protocols for COVID-19.  Highlights from the guidelines are below:

  • Asymptomatic individuals who HAVE been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 do NOT need to quarantine if exposed during the first 3 months after full vaccination if ALL of the following criteria are met:
    1. Are fully vaccinated for over 2 weeks
    2. Are within 3 months following receipt of the last dose in the series
    3. Have remained asymptomatic since last COVID-19 exposure.
  • Individuals who DO NOT meet all 3 of the above criteria and who have been exposed to someone with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 ARE required to quarantine.
  • Travel: Asymptomatic individuals who HAVE been vaccinated against COVID-19 do NOT need to quarantine during the first 3 months after full vaccination if ALL of the following criteria are met:
    1. Are fully vaccinated for over 2 weeks.
    2. Are within 3 months following receipt of the last dose in the series
    3. Have remained asymptomatic since last COVID-19 exposure.

Remember “fully vaccinated” means 2 weeks after receiving the second dose in a 2-dose series vaccine or 2 weeks after receiving one dose of a single-dose vaccine

I know we are all wondering what will happen after 3 months.  From what I have ascertained, the vaccine is still fairly new and data is being gathered on its efficacy after 90 days.  Further guidance will be forthcoming as the 90-day window gets closer for those initially vaccinated, which is around early May.

Thank you for your continuing efforts to keep our school community safe.

Onward,

Dr. Antonio W. Abitabile, Ed. D.
