RPES Pick a Reading Partner (PARP) Program is March 3 - April 6!

March 3, 2023

The Pick a Reading Partner (PARP) program returns to Rensselaer Park Elementary! PARP is an annual PTA-sponsored program inspiring RPES students and families to read together at home. The 2023 PARP program runs from March 3 - April 6, 2023.

2023 Rensselaer Park PARP Theme

The 2023 PARP theme is "RPES Reads Around the 'Burgh" and it will take you and your student on a reading tour of Lansingburgh using the Burghopoly game (scroll down for pics)! Each classroom has a game piece that they decorated to represent part of Lansingburgh. Game pieces will move throughout the giant Burghopoly board constructed throughout the school based on the number of minutes each class reads.

This year's PARP program is designed to engage students in reading and to enhance their knowledge of their hometown, Lansingburgh. The RPES class at each grade level who reads the most minutes will earn the Golden Carousel, created to represent the amusement park that stood on the grounds of Rensselaer Park before it was a school!

How You Can Participate in PARP

Your student picks a reading partner (a parent, grandparent, older sibling, friend, etc.) and reads for at least 20 minutes each day during PARP (don't forget to track your daily minutes read).

The RPES PARP 2023 website here has everything you will need to participate, including easy-to-use online reading minute logs. If your RPES student is participating in the PARP program this year, make sure you submit the Burghopoloy Player Application.
