2026 Capital Improvement Project
On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, residents of the Lansingburgh Central School District will be asked to vote on whether to approve a proposed $4,050,000 capital improvement project. This proposed project has three primary components, focused on improving health & safety and facilities:
- Knickerbacker Middle School
- Building a Secure Main Entrance Vestibule and Renovating the Main Office
- Lansingburgh High School
- Building a Secure Main Entrance Vestibule and Renovating the Main Office
- Athletics Facilities
- Football Field Replacement and Surrounding Renovations

Financial Impact and Project Cost
Funding from New York State Education Department (NYSED) Building Aid will pay for the majority of these improvements, ensuring only a small taxpayer impact.
Total Project Cost: $4,050,000
Amount Paid by NYSED Building Aid: $3,750,300 (92.6% of total cost)
Average Annual Impact on Taxpayer: $3.62 per year (with basic STAR exemption)
Voting
In-person voting will be done at the following polling locations on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 11:00 AM–8:00 PM. If you are unsure of your polling location, use the Polling Place Finder here.
Polling Locations
Voting District 1: Lansingburgh High School Gym (320 7th Ave.)
- The voting location for those living north of 101st St to the south of 118th St.
Voting District 2: Turnpike Elementary School Gym (55 New Turnpike Rd.)
- The voting location for those living north of 118th St to the end of Pleasantdale; Northern Drive; Corliss Park; Miami Beach Estates; Highpointe; all of Brunswick 7; and all of Speigletown.
2026–27 Budget Vote & Board Election
Also on Tuesday, May 19, residents will be asked to vote on whether to approve a proposed budget for the 2026–27 school year and elect board of education members.
New Voter Registration
Anyone not already registered to vote may register at the District Office (55 New Turnpike Rd) on Monday, May 11, 2026, from 12:00–6:00 PM.
Who Can Vote
You must be an eligible voter and registered to vote. If you are unsure of your voter registration status, check it using the Am I Registered link here.
You are an eligible voter if you are:
- A legal US resident;
- 18 years old by May 19, 2026; and
- Living within the Lansingburgh Central School District boundaries for at least 30 days before May 19, 2026.
Estimated Project Timeline
• May 19, 2026: Capital Project Vote, 2026–27 Budget Vote and Board of Education Election
• June 2026: Project Design Start
• October 2026: Submit Design to NYSED
• December 2026: NYSED Approval
• January 2027: Construction Bidding
• Spring and Summer 2027: Construction
• Fall 2027: Project Completion
