Exploring Engineering Day at RPI
Children in grades 3 through 6 in our local communities are invited to
attend Exploring Engineering Day (EED) on Saturday, February 16, 2008
(snow date, February 23, 2008) at Rensselaer's Troy campus. The morning
Program is from 8:30 to 11:30am and the afternoon program is from 1:00 to
4:00pm. This program is FREE, but space is limited.
If you have children or know of children who enjoy solving puzzles, have
A curiosity about how things work, demonstrate an interest in design
and/or articulate creative ideas, bring them to Exploring Engineering Day for
hands-on fun and an opportunity to learn what engineering is all about!
This annual event sponsored by the School of Engineering is designed and
led by engineering students from the Society of Women Engineers, the
National Society of Black Engineers, the Society of Hispanic
Professional Engineers, and the School of Engineering Dean's Student Advisory Council
and by professional staff in the School of Engineering to teach young
children what engineers do. Participants engage in four separate
hands-on activities that allow them to explore how engineers think about and
creatively solve problems. At the end of the program our young guests
will be able to share examples of the skills that engineers employ and
careers they pursue. Each child will receive a Certificate of Participation and
activities to take home.
