RENSSELAER PARK ELEMENTARY School

Rensselaer Park Elementary School is one of four schools in the Lansingburgh Central School District. Comprising grades K-5, Rensselaer Park Elementary School houses approximately 570 students and employs approximately 65 professionals and support staff. The school is identical to the Turnpike Elementary School and features a centrally located media center, computer lab, resource rooms, cafeteria/auditorium, gymnasium and outdoor playing fields. Energy-efficient heating, cooling and lighting systems are integrated with security surveillance and state-of-the-art telecommunications installations.

Play Rescheduled

Rensselaer Park Elementary School play, The Granny Awards, has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 4th at 7:00 PM.

Students Participate in Siena Event

Eleven Rensselaer Park ES students recently attended Siena College as part of the Martin Luther King and Coretta Scott King Lecture Series held this year at Siena. Students wrote stories that focused on justice and peace in tribute to the ideals of Martin Luther King. The students were also honored at Rensselaer Park ES at an afternoon program. Each child read his entry for the event and Mrs. Fushs presented each student with a certificate from Siena College.

Students visit Institute of History and Art

Students from Mrs. McGurrin's third grade class recently visited the Albany Institute of History and Art as part of a grant to study the Hudson River Valley over the past 400 years. The children toured the exhibit and made fish rubbings of local Hudson River fish.

Student Council News

The Student Council participates in several fundraisers throughout the school year.  These fundraisers have enabled the Student Council to fund many activities and buy much needed equipment for the school.  [More information]

Due to changes in dates for NYS gr 3-8 ELA and Math testing, please note the following changes to the district calendar for 2009-2010:

    • Thursday, April 29, 2010 K-5 half day parent conferences dismissal 11:45 is changed to Thursday April 22, 2010 K-5 half day parent conferences dismissal 11:45.

Book of the Month

For the month of February, every student at Rensselaer Park will be reading Nothing Ever Happens on 90th Street written by Roni Schotter and illustrated by Krysten Brooker.

In celebration of this book, students in technology will use the nothing ever happens idea to type their own version.
