Youngs To Play in All-Star Football Classic

Lansingburgh senior Kenny Youngs will be back on the football field in June after being selected as one of 50 seniors from New York State to compete in the annual New York vs. New Jersey All-Star Classic.

The game, formerly known as the Governor’s Bowl, will be played at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., on June 8 at 3 p.m. The game will be televised on the MSG Network.

Youngs had a stellar four-year varsity career at Lansingburgh, rushing for at least 1,000 yards each season, including 1,971 on 208 carries as a senior in 2007.  Lansingburgh finished 11-2 in 2007 and advanced to the New York State Class A tournament’s championship game where it lost to Aquinas High School

Youngs becomes the third player from Lansingburgh selected for the team in recent years, joining Kareem Jones (2004) and Brandon Canty (2006).

“It is a real honor to play in a special game like this,” said Lansingburgh football coach Pete Porcelli. “It represents a lot of years of hard work, and a nice culmination to a high school career.”

Youngs, a runningback, has accepted a scholarship to continue his football career at C.W. Post in the fall.
