Lansingburgh student wins photo awards
Knickerbacker Middle School student Cassidy Curley recently won two awards for her photographs she entered in the Photography Center of the Capital District’s Student Photography Exhibition.
Cassidy was awarded a first-place designation in the “other” category, and a second place in the “Architecture and Cityscape” category. The awards came with total cash prizes of $150.
The contest was open to secondary level students enrolled in Rensselaer County Schools, and was sponsored by the Bette Bircher Memorial Photography Grant, in cooperation with the PhotoCenter.
The student exhibition was juried by David Brickman, a noted area photographer and art critic; and, Nicholas Argyros, director of the PhotoCenter. In addition to the Knickerbacker Middle School entrants, students from Berlin Central High School, Columbia High School, Hoosac School, Maple Hill High School, Tamarac High School and Vanderheyden Hall also participated.
