Connor Gallo to Play Football at Union
Senior Connor Gallo, the standout quarterback for this season’s Lansingburgh High football team, announced recently that he will continue his academic and athletic career at Schenectady’s Union College.
“It was the best fit for me, and the best opportunity,” said Gallo, whose older brother Ryan, a 2003 Union graduate, also played for the Dutchmen. “I like their coach (John Audino) a lot, and I’ve known him for quite a while.” Gallo, who qualified for the New York State meet in the 400-meters, last year, also said that track at Union may be an option.
Gallo may not be the only one from his family playing for Coach Audino next season.
Older brother Justin, who just finished his second year at Hudson Valley Community College and became only the third player in the history of the school to score 1,000 career points, is entertaining Division I and II basketball offers, but said he is also considering a return to football and playing with Connor at Union College.
Gallo helped lead Lansingburgh to an 11-2 record this past season, a Section II Class A championship and a trip to the state tournament’s championship game before its season ended.
