Dear LHS student and Parents/Guardians:
By the time you get this, you will be preparing for the new 2009-2010 school year at Lansingburgh High School. I hope your summer was restful and enjoyable. I want to welcome back all of our returning students and extend a warm welcome to our new students. Our faculty and staff have been working throughout the summer to get everything ready for the best school year ever. Teachers have been busy working in teams this summer to improve their curriculums and plan new and exciting learning activities.
We are welcoming 3 new teachers and 1 teaching Assistant to our LHS faculty. They are:
New to the District:
With this letter you should be receiving your tentative schedules. You will notice that there has been a slight change in the days that classes are offered. Instead of a traditional MWF/TR schedule for classes, classes will run on an ABCD schedule. For example, the first day of classes Wednesday September 9 will be an “A” day. You will attend all classes that are offered on the “A” day. Thursday will be a “B” day, Friday will be a “C” day and Monday will be a “D” day. On Tuesday September we will begin the cycle again.

The letter of the day will be on signs and daily announcements for students. This change will provide balance so that classes that are offered only once or twice a week will never be missed due to holidays, vacations or snow days. There will be plenty of staff available to the students to answer any questions.
Students should come to classes prepared with a writing utensil and a notebook. Each teacher will share the specific classroom supplies on the first few days of classes. Additionally, you may check our website www.lansingburgh.org for teacher webpage’s and other important school information. Please check it often as it changes daily.
Students will begin this year on September 9, with homeroom beginning at 7:50. Student may enter the building at 7:30. Students who arrive before homeroom may go to the high school cafeteria for breakfast which is served by Prestige. Additionally, students must leave school at dismissal unless they are receiving help from a teacher. Our teaching staff is available from 2:02 to 2:35 daily.
I look forward to see you in the halls, the cafeteria, on the playing fields and on stage and most importantly in your classes. Again, I welcome the freshman, our Lansingburgh Class of 2013, to our school. This is a new year with new classes and new teachers and a fresh start. Apply yourself in each class and enjoy your year at Lansingburgh High School.
Happy School Days,
Angelina Bergin
Principal
