What's New
The Lansingburgh School District wants to provide you with information that is important, timely and convenient for you to access. We are attempting to do so in a format that is useful and helpful for the environment, while saving costs.
With this in mind, we have begun phasing out printed publications and notices to the extent possible in favor of sharing information on our website, www.lansingburgh.org. This is a cost effective and environmentally friendly way of keeping the community informed about our schools.
For more information about the district and each school, please download our district brochure.

Special Education Review
The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID) has initiated a Special Education Quality Assurance focused review in Lansingburgh School District during the 2009-2010 school year. The purpose of this IDEA Effective Instructional Practices Focused Review is to assess the district’s compliance with selected federal and state laws and regulations governing the education of students with disabilities as well as its ability to meet key performance indicators identified by NYSED. These reviews are regularly scheduled every few years.
The review will be conducted by VESID’s Special Education Quality Assurance office and staff from the Special Education Training and Resource Center (SETRC) and will include representatives from the school district. The review will involve a review of school records of selected students with disabilities, classroom visitations and staff interviews. In addition, several meetings of the Committee on Special Education will be observed. Further information may be obtained by contacting VESID’s Special Education Quality Assurance office in your region and/or by contacting your school district’s Special Education Office at 233-6808.
Capital Project Update
Bids for the $2.9M capital project work that was approved by the voters in February 2008 were approved by the Board of Education at the December 22, 2009 meeting. The project includes conversion of a classroom to a health office, technology classroom renovation, and HVAC upgrades at the high school. Middle school work includes renovations of the auditorium, masonry renovations to the exterior of the building and HVAC upgrades. At Turnpike School redesign of the bus loop, auxiliary parking, power and data upgrades, installation of security door hardware, HVAC upgrades, replacement of exhaust fans and classroom white boards are included in the project. Work to take place at Rensselaer Park School includes replacement of the gym/cafeteria folding partition wall, installation of security door hardware, power and data upgrades, HVAC upgrades, replacement of exhaust fans and installation of white boards. These projects will begin in spring 2010 and conclude during the fall of 2010. Because of work being done at Turnpike School, Knickerbacker Middle School and Lansingburgh High School, the secondary summer school will be housed at Rensselaer Park School and it is likely that we will be unable to offer an elementary summer school program in 2010.
If you have questions regarding the capital improvements that are planned contact Superintendent George Goodwin at ggoodwin@lansingburgh.org or at 233-6850, ext. 3400.
