The Technology Team performed full power tests with their electric car on Wednesday, May 12th and achieved speeds reaching 29.9 mph. The team is adjusting the gearing and will look to go 40 mph in the coming weeks.
On June 5th the team hosted a "demo day" at the Knickerbacker Arena’s outside track. The team demonstrated the electrathon car and other projects.
Thank you again to all of the Technology Team's generous sponsors including DeRubertis Auto, Capitol Mechanics, Jack Troy's Auto Body, Bob Karl's Auto Sales, Alumi-Nex Mold Inc. and RPI.

On October 23, 2009 Michael DeRubertis of DeRubertis Auto Service made a donation of $5,000 to the Lansingburgh High School Technology Team. This donation is to support the Electrathon Vehicle Team in the design and construction of an electric racecar.
The Electrathon vehicle is an efficiently designed student driven vehicle that is limited to 67 pounds of sealed lead-acid batteries. The rules are sanctioned by Electrathon America, complete rules can be found on their website.
Two of the most frequently asked questions are, how fast does the car go and who gets to drives it? The cars are geared to last for one hour so the speed is limited to 35 to 45 MPH. As for the driver, we are required to have two drivers for each race. The driver must have a valid driver’s license and parent’s permission.
The students will race this spring against other high schools from across the northeast at the New York Electrathon Spring Challenge. In the past, Rochester Institute of Technology has hosted the event. There are other races throughout the northeast that we may attend as well. You can follow the build on our team wiki.
