Lansingburgh Central School District Food Service Information

The Business Office and Food Service staff would like to thank you for your support and patience during the introduction of the new Point of Sale system into the cafeterias. Most students memorized their PIN codes very quickly, and we are happy to say that the system is up and running. While serving times have not yet decreased in all buildings, we anticipate that they will as students and staff become more experience with the system. Below is some basic information about account balances and bonus meals:

Account Balances – The student(s) at each school should give a check (preferably) or cash to a cashier who will add that payment to their individual account. If a family has children attending more than one school, it is best, but not required, for each student to have a separate check.

Low Balances – Each student can check his/her balance daily by asking the cashier or inquiring at the cafeteria office. If a student has a low or negative balance the cashier will inform the student. Negative balances appear in red on the registers. If a negative balance exists the student’s family will be notified by letter or through the school office periodically. All negative balances should be cleared as soon as possible, and must be cleared by the end of the school year.

Bonus Meals – Bonus meals are given when a full pay student prepays in certain dollar increments. For the High School and Middle School, a pre-payment of $15.00 will generate 1 bonus meal. A $30 pre-payment generates 2 bonus meals. In the Elementary Schools a pre-payment of $12.50 generates 1 bonus meal and $25 generates 2 bonus meals. Bonus meals are tracked right on the system and can be used for either Breakfast or Lunch.

You may restrict how your child uses their account balance by either sending a note or calling the Food Service Director at 233-6829. Purchases may be restricted to meals only, or you may allow for limited snacks or ice cream. Unless you notify the cafeteria staff otherwise, they will not restrict the types of purchases made. At any time, you may request a printout of what your child has purchased. Again, please send a note or call and that will be provided to you.

We know that times are hard right now and we would like to remind you that you may apply or reapply for the Federal Free and Reduced Price Meal program at any time during the school year. Should you find that your financial situation changes during the year, please ask the school office for a Free and Reduced Price application and submit this with your updated financial information. The District will process the application and notify you if you qualify. Current guidelines are:

Download the Income Eligibility Guidelines for Free and Reduced Lunch: MS Word Documuent | PDF Document

The federal guidelines do require that a portion of applicants must verify income. So please be prepared to produce the required documentation to support your application should you be contacted.
